Car Sharing and Rain We helped pushstart the country's first non-profit Bicycle Center, the Center for Appropriate Transport (CAT) in Eugene, Oregon, in 1992. During this, based on a tip from our co-conspirator Jan VanderTuin, we began a series of investigations into Europe's Car Sharing movement, which originated in Berlin and Zurich. As a prototyping experiment, we spearheaded the first Car Sharing group in the US, the Eugene Car Co-op. The resulting media groundfire catalyzed Car Sharing around the country -- there are now groups in dozens of US cities. Here are some resources on this site:
